Troy Davis is the Director of Bands and Jazz at Aragon High School. He is also the Music Director of the San Francisco State University Wind Ensemble and the Oakland Municipal Band. He has served as guest conductor at the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp, the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, the Holy Names College Youth Concerto Festival, and Summer Music at Stanley. He has traveled extensively, having led groups in Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America, and performed concerts in some of the world's greatest concert halls, including the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Sydney Opera House, and on the Great Wall of China.
In addition to conducting, Mr. Davis is the Principal Oboist of the Livermore Valley Opera Orchestra, Oboe Section Leader of the San Francisco Wind Ensemble, and the Applied Oboe instructor at the College of San Mateo. He was a member of the Grammy-winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus, where he recorded three albums, and has performed with many great artists around the Bay Area including The Grateful Dead, The Drifters, Mic Gillette, Garth Brooks, Robin Williams, Pete Escovedo, Michael Tilson Thomas, the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony.
Mr. Davis was honored as a "Distinguished Music Educator" by Yale University in 2011 and by Marquis in 2008, when he was selected to be listed in "Who's Who in America." He earned his Masterís Degree in music education from Notre Dame de Namur University, his Bachelor of Music in oboe performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is currently enrolled at Boston University, where he is working towards earning his Doctorate of Musical Arts in music education.
