Ryan Blauvelt is a member of the SFWE percussion section, races sailboats of varying sizes, and can pop off a bottle cap with a metal spatula whenever called upon. As a musician that has wandered different continents and both U.S. coasts, Ryan's career in the music industry spans performing, teaching, and working in a variety of music roles. He has been a Calico Stompede performer for Knott's Berry Farm, a Product Specialist at Tower Records, a Stage Assistant for New England Conservatory of Music, and Regional Manager of a J.W. Pepper music store in the San Francisco Bay Area.
A drummer and a percussionist, depending on the gig, Ryan got his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance at California State University, Long Beach in 2004. Fully immersed in the percussion experience, Ryan traveled to Brazil and Ghana for cultural music tours, learning and performing with local master drummers. After college he moved around, playing and teaching in various freelancing roles, until eventually landing in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007.
Currently Ryan manages and develops Digital Print Publishing, a platform for independent musicians to upload music to sell directly on Sheet Music Plus, though his real passion is playing and performing. Catch him playing happy hours at the Comstock Saloon in San Francisco, dropping in to sight-read musical theatre productions, and working hard to develop SFWE into a ridiculously awesome ensemble!
